So let’s take a look at our book for May; we’ll be reading the following title:

Description:

  • Starting with a wink at his own dumb title and a case for whimsy as a writer’s best friend, veteran writer and writing instructor John Vorhaus offers us this latest glimpse inside his writing mind. Drawing on a quarter-century of experience in writing scripts and novels, and teaching and training writers worldwide, Vorhaus delivers a quick, expressive overview of the writing process, how to engage it, and how to beat its common pitfalls. With abundant concrete writing strategies and an empowering generosity of spirit, How to Write Good joins JV’s classic Comic Toolbox in providing what every writer needs: rules, tools, and a good, swift kick in the motivation.

Description:

  • The Artist’s Way is the seminal book on the subject of creativity. An international bestseller, millions of readers have found it to be an invaluable guide to living the artist’s life. Still as vital todayor perhaps even more sothan it was when it was first published one decade ago, it is a powerfully provocative and inspiring work.In a new introduction to the book, Julia Cameron reflects upon the impact of The Artist’s Way and describes the work she has done during the last decade and the new insights into the creative process that she has gained. Updated and expanded, this anniversary edition reframes The Artist’s Way for a new century.

Note: There are several options when ordering this book. I’ve listed the paperback because it is the least expensive, however, a Kindle version, a hardcover, a three-in-one book (The Complete Artist’s Way, which includes The Artist’s Way, Walking in this World, and Finding Water), as well as accompanying journals, workbooks, and daily devotionals are available.

  1. This is becoming a big deal. Free books for everyone! Well maybe one person, anyway. Good for you.

I am proud to see this growing and that you are leading the merry band of followers. Rock On, Dude!

    1. Thanks, Rob! Let’s hope it becomes a bigger and bigger deal. I’d love for enough to join that allow for a variety of discussions and interpretations.

    1. See what trouble living on your own island causes? I appreciate you taking the expense into consideration, and I’d love it if you could join us for the discussion. If you’d like to enter and don’t mind the Kindle version, if you win, perhaps we can go that route.

  2. Awesome choices! I haven’t heard of the May one before, and I have the June one, loved the first few pages… but you know… usual story, saw something shiny and got distracted. Looking forward to giving it a good go this time.

    1. The May one was an inexpensive choice I made to support one of the writers who contributes to Writer Unboxed. Just dipping into it…so far, so good. Shiny objects? I had to get rid of my gold bookmark…got distracted every time I turned the page…oh…there it is again…pretty!

  3. Mike it’s so good to see you spreading your wings and putting yourself out there in a variety of ways (i.e. starting online bookclub, doing your first giveaway, etc.). For me, it’s very inspirational to witness. Kudos to you, sir. Wishing you all the best in all you do.

    1. Thanks, Demetria Foster Gray. Supportive folks like you keep me going when I feel like tossing in the towel. It’s all trial and error, wondering what to do next. And so I take the next step when it’s directed.
