This Make Believe Book Launch Is For Real!

Okay…so the other night in my incessant surfing and reading and absorbing and visiting, while trying to clarify the difference between a Critique Partner and a Beta Reader (seems like the same thing at different points in revision), I stumbled across Lynda R. Young’s fantastic blog.

Googling “Critique Partners,” lo and behold if she didn’t pop up as the number one result, so I figured, “Hey…she must have something worthwhile to say.” She did, but that’s not the point. Go get your google on and look for yourself.

The point is, I had tripped right over a member of the IWSG and didn’t even know it! And she’s actually topping Google searches. Damn! A celebrity in my midst.

So I read all about her and fell head-over-heels in like, so much so, that I wanted to help launch this collection of short stories called, Make Believe, in which her tale, Birthright, appears. It’s being released today! Here’s a brief synopsis to tantalize your brain-bits:

Birthright

Christa can mask the pain and hide the scars, but running from a birthright is impossible.

She’s tried to escape her grief by fleeing to a small town in Florida. Much to her frustration, the locals think they recognize her even though she’s never been there before. To make things worse, a man named Jack spouts outrageous theories about her.

Both spur Christa to bolt, to start fresh yet again, but there’s something about Jack that intrigues her enough to stay. The only problem? Someone else wants her to leave, and they won’t stop until she’s dead.

Mmmm…this intrigues me as much as Jack intrigues Christa. And that’s only the synopsis! For excerpts of Birthright and other shorts in this anthology, here’s what you do…it’s a little tricky, but you’re up to the task. Okay, ready?

Hover your pointer over the link, raise your right index finger, and push the left side of the front of your mouse (or tap your laptop touchpad). You should hear a “click,” and another window will open. Theeerrre you go. Now go grab a cup of coffee, hot tea, hot toddy, or whatever, and read away.

Birthright” excerpt. Yeah, click this link. Go ahead. Just do it.

This links to other wonderful excerpts from “Make Believe.” Click it. You know you want to.

If there’s one thing I know, it’s peer pressure. Did it work? Here…have a cigarette.

Blog Tour

Follow along, starting today and running through January 3rd, as Lynda scoots through the bloggerhood on the Make Believe Tour, with various writers conducting interviews, writing book reviews, and offering Lynda a place to really talk off-the-cuff as guest host.

Make sure not to miss the December 13 stop on her own site, as it will be a combined interview of all six authors. One-stop shopping; Wal-Mart in a blog.

And speaking of shopping – or at least new goodies – there will be several giveaways of the book during the tour! You gotta love free. Stop by those blogs participating for your chance to get in on this little book lottery…the recent $590 million Powerball jackpot was small potatoes compared to this treasure! Be a winner and check it all out!

Good Luck, Lynda!
Metaphors be with you.
Peace,

  1. I love that we support authors and their books. I've seen the Make Believe Tour on a few blogs and am so glad Lynda is getting the promotion she deserves. It's inspiring to learn about the success of authors. Thanks for sharing, Mike and best to you Lynda!

  2. Whoa, slow down Speedy Gonzales on the posts. I haven't even gotten the chance to comment on yesterday's post yet. You are too Swift for me, sir. You're living up to your email address name.Anyhoo, love the "Make Believe" book cover, it's very eye-catching. And it's also very supportive of you to plug Lynda the way you've done here. I'll have to pop over to her site to see what all the buzz is about. Thanks for highlighting her.

  3. I know…they're flying at me left and write. I was going to start my Tuesday How-to's back up again tomorrow (let it slide during NaNo), but I had Sunday's, then this one, and one on Wed for the IWSG. Plus, working on new articles for ARR and Treading. Then finish Monty. LOTS to do!

  4. Oh wow, M.L. Thank you so much for helping me celebrate the launch of Make Believe. I've just got back from my week away from the net and… wow. I blushed a little at being called a celebrity. My celebrity status pales compared to Alex, the Ninja Captain above ;)You're awesome for doing this.Lyn

  5. Thanks Lynda, for dropping by, and now that you know the way, don't be a stranger!I spent a week at the beach around Labor Day…did NOT have my computer and was a little lost. I didn't know what to do with myself and actually had to relearn how to relax. I would have been freaking if it happened the week before a book release and blog tour! It's a pleasure to help you get the word out about Birthright and Make Believe. I've even chirped about it a few times on Twitter. Best of luck to you!

  6. Isn't it eye-catching? Very professional. Such an important aspect to a book that many don't spend much thought on, thus the cheesy covers we see floating around.

  7. First, as an author in the Make Believe anthology, let me thank you for helping out with the blog tour. we couldn't do it without people like you.As a huge thank you for promoting and commenting on my blog, you've won a signed Make Believe bookmark from me. Please send me your addy to my e-mail (kford2007(at)gmail(dot)com and I'll get that in the mail to you. Thanks again and good luck with all your writing endeavors. Oh, and congrats on winning NaNo!!!!
